Penetrating Oil SL-10™ is a fast-acting penetrating oil and heavy-duty spray lubricant formulated to work into hard-to-reach metal interfaces, loosen rusted and seized components, provide long-lasting lubrication, and protect metal surfaces against rust and corrosion.
SL-10 combines penetrating action with enhanced lubrication from both Muscle Metal Treatment MT-10® and Power-Lift Grease PL-10™. MT-10® provides boundary-film lubrication at metal surfaces, while PL-10 includes the lubricating benefits of a lithium complex grease. Formulated together, SL-10 provides continued lubrication after penetration, making it especially useful for industrial maintenance, automotive service, equipment repair and general shop applications where both penetration and continued lubrication are important.

Rust, corrosion and contamination can make threaded connections, joints and moving metal mechanisms tough to loosen or operate.
Penetrating Oil SL-10™ creeps into hard-to-reach spaces, between metal surfaces and around closely fitted components, reaching areas where ordinary lubricants might be difficult to apply directly.

Loosens Rusted and Seized Components

SL-10 penetrates around affected metal surfaces and provides lubrication that reduces friction as the parts are worked free.

How Do Penetrating Oils Work?
A penetrating oil has to do more than just coat the outside of a stuck bolt and nut. It needs to move into small accessible clearances around threads, joints and mating metal surfaces.
Its low-flow characteristics allow the fluid to wick into these tight areas by capillary action carrying the oil toward the surfaces affected by rust, corrosion or friction. Once the penetrant reaches the metal interface, lubrication between the surfaces helps reduce resistance as a fastener or mechanism is loosened.
SL-10 combines this penetrating action with residual heavy-duty lubrication, making it well matched for maintenance applications where the component needs continued lubrication after it’s been freed.

Penetrating Oil vs. General-Purpose Lubricant

Non-Aerosol Spray Application
Penetrating Oil SL-10™ is available with a trigger sprayer for direct, controlled application without an aerosol propellant. The container is filled with 100% usable product vs. a combination of lubricant plus a compressed or liquefied propellant. SL-10 also eliminates the handling and storage concerns associated with pressurized cans.
The spray format allows the product to be directed onto fasteners, chains, cables, linkages and other components while giving the user control over where the lubricant is applied.

Directions for Use
Mix well before use. Wipe off exposed metal surfaces. Remove any loose dirt, rust scale or debris that can prevent the product from reaching tight areas.
Then apply Penetrating Oil SL-10™ directly to the joint, threads, fastener or other metal mechanism requiring penetration or lubrication. Allow the product time to penetrate into the hard-to-reach areas. Heavily rusted or stubborn parts might need more dwell time or a second application.
Wipe away excess lubricant with a dry cloth.
